Elmer Powell, 78, native of Montgomery County, died at 4:45 o'clock Friday afternoon at the home of his son, John Powell, in Indianapolis, according to word received here last night. He suffered a stroke a week ago today. Mr. Powell was born in June, 1861, two miles north of New Ross, the son of John and Elizabeth Welch Powell. He was married about 50 years ago to Edna Chadwick. The deceased was a member of the Christian Church at Indianapolis. The son is the only near relative surviving. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the New Ross Christian Church. Burial will be made in the Pisgah Cemetery. - kbz
